Hah, you have got to read about this. Alek Komarnitsky's attempts to spread Christmas cheer totally snowballed out of hand. The brouhaha here.
And read the various emails received before, and after, he let the cat out of the bag.
He also has a page where he's tracked the media coverage, before, and after, the hoax was revealed.

Dang ... someone who actually READ the whole story and included references so people who could form their own opinion about the whole thing - nice work! ;-)
If you don't mind one more link, the christmas video segments are pretty funny which include both pre/post-hoax coverage with perhaps the funniest one being when ABC7 took me up in their helicopter for a live airborne report! ;-)
Not sure how I'm going to top all this for 2005 ...

Glad you enjoyed the video's. WRT 2005 ... ummmmm ... what if I DID put a webcam out there and really did let people control my lights - do you think anyone would believe it! ;-)
